Join our trust board and make a difference!
October 15, 2025
Do you want to make a meaningful impact in the community? The Strathmore Park Community Trust, a registered charity, invites people to get in touch if they would like to contribute to the governance and ongoing development of the Strathmore Park Community Centres. Our volunteer trustees support the work of two centres: Te Tūhunga Rau in Strathmore Avenue and the Raukawa St centre.
The purpose of the centres is to provide opportunities for Strathmore Park residents to connect, grow and thrive. The new board will, in liaison with the staff and community, shape and oversee the implementation of a refreshed strategy. As the term of the current trustees comes to an end, we are seeking up to eight trustees. The new Board will elect its own chair, secretary and treasurer.
The board meets no fewer than five times-a-year, and the time commitment is about six hours-per-meeting - including preparation time, meeting attendance and follow-up activity. Trustees are also encouraged to provide assistance in their area of expertise, and this time commitment would be additional.
Previous governance experience is not essential for all the new trustees. Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is required. We’re seeking people with skills in one or more of the following areas:
● Legal, regulatory and compliance
● Financial (including risk)
● Fundraising and sponsorship
● People leadership / team culture
● Strategy and planning
● Community development
● Cultural competency with respect for, and an understanding of, a range of cultures, including Tikanga Māori.
